Sodium bicarbonate is white and often appears as a fine powder. It has a slightly salty, alkaline taste that is composed of sodium and bicarbonate ions. It was first discovered in Berlin at the College of Medicine in 1800, by two employees.

Baking soda was first utilized in the United States during colonial times. It was imported from Europe until the United States began producing it themselves, in 1839.

The Magic Baking Soda: Things You Didn’t Know Baking Soda Could Do

1. Bee stings
When bees or wasps sting a person, they inject venom through their stinger into the skin of the victim.
If you are not allergic to bees, clean the area with soap and water, then apply a paste made of water and baking soda to break down bee venom and to help soothe itchy skin.

2. Body Oder
Sodium bicarbonate is amphoteric. It reacts with substances that have either strong acid or base pHs. sodium bicarbonate reacts with those particles and neutralize them by making them less acidic.
It is easy to makes a semi-solid stick of deodorant similar to stick deodorants you find in stores—minus all the chemicals. A general recipe may include
virgin coconut oil, Shea butter, arrowroot powder (or cornstarch), baking soda and an optional 1-2 drops of your favorite, quality essential oil

3. Alkalizing pH
This treatment is primarily used to treat cancer of the digestive tract, including cancers of the throat, colon, intestines, rectal area, and other cancers in between.
Cancerous cells cannot survive in an alkaline environment so it is a fast way to stunt any growth.

For someone who weighs 170 pounds, the recommended dosage would be 4-6 tsp. daily for a general detox and for maintenance, 1-2 tsp. of Baking Soda daily to maintain a proper pH of 7.4.

A healthy pH level should be 7.4, however you need a Ph of 8.5 for several days or perhaps longer to force cancer to die. Until your cancer starts to die and tumors begin to shrink, you should consider keeping your pH between 8.0 and 8.5.
Once your test results reveal your cancer is gone, reduce your intake of Baking Soda to keep your pH level within the healthy range, about 7.4.

4. Teeth whitener and general oral health
Reports five controlled clinical studies found that toothpaste containing baking soda “enhanced plaque removal effectiveness of tooth brushing to a significantly greater extent” than brushing with a non-baking soda toothpaste.

For a natural way to whiten your teeth, mash one ripe strawberry and mix it with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Spread the mixture onto your teeth and leave on for five minutes. Then brush your teeth and rinse. This method should be used no more than once a week, as it could potentially damage your tooth enamel with excessive use. This mixture is also incredibly effective at killing bacteria.

5. Acid Reflux, heart burn and stomach pain
Over the counter and prescription medications came come with unwanted side effects. Baking soda, having an alkaline pH, helps to naturally neutralize the excess acid that causes these discomforts.
• ½ teaspoon fully dissolved in a half a glass of water, taken every two hours (do not take more than seven ½ teaspoons in 24 hours, or three ½ teaspoons if you’re over 60).

6. Burns
Add a mixture of baking soda and water to a cool compress and apply directly to the burn. After an enjoyable day in the sun, you may require some sun burn relief. Add ½ cup of baking soda to lukewarm bathwater, then soak in the tub for 20 minutes to help calm and begin to heal the burn.

7. Splinters
This baking soda method will even work to remove a deeply embedded glass shard.
Don’t squeeze it, this may force the unwanted splinter deeper inside or it may break into smaller pieces. Wash and gently dry the skin. Add water to about 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the splinter and cover with a bandage. The baking soda paste will cause the skin to swell and push the splinter out.
After 24 hours, remove the bandage. The splinter may be visible, pull it out with tweezers and apply an antiseptic cream.
