One of the most popular, frequently mentioned studies dealing with the benefits of beetroot juice in the fight against cancer was led by Dr. Aleksandar Ferenci at the Department of Internal Medicine in Hungary, at the end of 1950. Using nothing but raw, red beets, the doctor was able to notice the incredible results of the recovery of cancer patients. Decades later, his work was reprinted by the Australian International Clinical Nutrition Review.
In one study, 50-year-old man who was suffering from lung cancer was treated with beets under the supervision of Dr. Ferenci. In just six weeks, the tumor disappeared, and four months later, the man returned over 20 pounds.
In another study, patients suffering from prostate cancer and uterine cancer were admitted to a hospital.
At the time of admission, they weighed the same. A man with prostate cancer received treatment with beets, but the doctor noted that patients with cancer of the uterus could not withstand the treatment.
Although the patient was bedridden with a catheter, a month after the catheter was removed and he soon began to walk again and to gain weight. The patient, however, continued to lose weight. After only three months, there was a difference in weight of over 10 kg.
They also noted that while other foods contain iron, the human body is able to absorb iron from root beets much easier than from any other food. Researchers suspect that there is some sort of catalyst in the root beets, which helps the body to better utilize the available iron.
The best way of consuming beetroot to fight cancer
The biggest advantage of beetroot juice to fight cancer is that you do not have to worry about the side effects of its consumption. Beetroot is available in different shapes, though the powder of beetroot is probably the most popular and can be found in most health food stores.
It is believed that a tablespoon of powder in 250 ml of water or juice every morning before breakfast can dramatically improve the body’s resistance to cancer. For those who already suffer from some type of cancer, it is recommended to double or triple the dose each day. Just remember to always drink the beverage during a meal, never on an empty stomach.
